Čo je nové v Božskom ofíciu po revízii z roku 2013 - Výber modlitieb a piesní je väčší ako v predchádzajúcom vydaní. Svedčí o tom väčšie zaradenie nových hymnov a ekumenických piesní. Stále obsahuje veľký počet starých a nových tradičných piesní - Zvýšil sa podiel piesní v polyfónnych úpravách a viacjazyčných piesní. V súčasnosti sú napríklad čoraz viac zastúpené piesne z Taizé. - Vzhľad sa zmenil: Červené farebné prvky v tlačenom obraze poskytujú väčšiu prehľadnosť. Tri farebné ilustrované panely s umeleckými dielami pomáhajú vizuálne rozdeliť knihu na veľké časti. - Nové chvály Boha poskytujú inšpiráciu pre život viery v súkromí a v rodine. Obsahuje napríklad vzory na rodinné pobožnosti alebo nápady na súkromné či spoločné čítanie Biblie. Rovnako ako v starom Gotteslobe tu nájdete aj najdôležitejšie texty a postupy pre liturgiu svätej omše, slávenie Božieho slova a i. - Vďaka vysvetlivkám k mnohým náboženským obsahom možno nový Gotteslob používať aj ako malú encyklopédiu. Okrem hlavnej časti obsahuje nový Gotteslob aj vlastnú diecéznu časť s regionálnymi piesňami.
